Understanding why melanomas stop responding to therapy that inhibits cells from growing

Lead researcher

Dr Karen Sheppard, Prof Grant McArthur

Institution
Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre

Tumour type:
Melanoma

Years funded
2016-2018

This project will work out how melanomas escape from the effects of a new treatment for melanoma that stops tumours from growing. Knowing how the tumour cell changes to survive drug treatment will allow us to design new treatments that will avoid the escape mechanism, providing long-term survival for patients.
