Wangaratta VCP

Public consultation session in Wangaratta.

Thank you very much to everyone who participated in the survey and public consultation workshops we held as part of our submission to the State Government’s Victorian Cancer Plan 2020-24.

The government’s plan will identify priorities to prevent cancer, increase survival, improve the experience of the cancer treatment and care system, and achieve equitable outcomes for all Victorians.

Over the past few months, Cancer Council Victoria has consulted with over 600 clinicians, researchers and community members affected by cancer. This feedback has been invaluable, and we are now in the process of preparing our independent submission for the government.

Our report highlights priority areas that need to be addressed to improve cancer outcomes for all Victorians. Recommendations include addressing inequity in cancer outcomes, decreasing the incidence of preventable cancers, reducing the cost of cancer, increasing research into low survival cancers, improving access to care coordinators and improving how clinicians work together across tertiary and primary sectors.

Once finalised, our submission will be available on our website. For any information about our submission for the next cancer plan or any other advocacy work you’d like to be involved in please contact us.
