As 2024 draws to a close, I want to thank all our Daffodil Circle members for supporting all Victorians affected by cancer. This is an important time to reflect on the incredible progress that’s been made thanks to you.
This year has seen some significant wins and more exciting progress towards a cancer-free future. Gifts in Wills have been a driving force behind remarkable strides in cancer research, prevention, and support — from developing artificial ovaries for women undergoing treatment to pushing boundaries in immunotherapy.
We also had a big win with the long-awaited introduction of a lung cancer screening program. After years of advocacy, it’s a moment to celebrate, as the program has the potential to save 12,000 lives.
Our decades-long fight against smoking (and now vaping) continued as we welcomed new government reforms. We’re determined to protect more families through our education campaigns, while our 13 11 20 support service ensures no one faces a cancer diagnosis alone.
However you plan to spend the holidays, I hope it brings you great joy. I know I’m looking forward to spending time with family. For me, this quieter time of year is a chance to reflect on our progress an opportunities for the future.
I wish you a very happy Christmas and a bright New Year.
