Flying Doctor Community Transport

Royal Flying Doctor Service Victorian Section

  • All cancers
  • Face-to-face service

The Flying Doctor Community Transport program, run through the Royal Flying Doctor Service, supports rural Victorians that have difficulty accessing basic health services, often due to a lack of suitable means of transport and financial barriers. The program enables eligible clients access to free transport from home to health appointments and social support groups that are funded through Home and Community Care (HACC) and facilitated through registered health services. It is one of the ways the Royal Flying Doctor Service works with regional health care partners to not only improve the physical and mental health of rural Victorians, but enhance social connections as well. The service currently operates in ten communities across Victoria including Heathcote, Rochester, Lakes Entrance, Warracknabeal, Numurkah, Cobram, Foster, Central Gippsland, St Arnaud and Robinvale.
