Common media questions

Cancer statistics - where are the latest?

Victorian statistics are collected through our Victorian Cancer Registry and published in Canstat. The registry also compiles special reports on cancer incidence and mortality.

Summary of current statistics

Current Victorian statistics

Cancer Survival Victoria 2007

State cancer incidence and mortality statistics are released every year. There's generally a 2-year period between collection and publication because of the volume and verifications needed. We also produce special reports on particular cancer sites and related issues.

Media students and campaign information

We get a lot of requests from students about our campaigns. Before contacting us, do your research and use this website to gather information. A good place to start is with a media release search.

Students can quote this website and attribute the information to the appropriate program manager. To determine who the current program manager is, email enquiries@cancervic.org.au with the campaign mentioned in the subject field, to the attention of the PR or Marketing office. This will be forwarded to the program area, who will respond.

If you quote a Cancer Council spokesperson or use information from our websites, please send us a final version of your assignment for our files.

If students wish to organise an interview (in person or on the phone) or photo opportunity, requests must be received no less than 2 weeks in advance. An interview is not guaranteed and depends on staff availability.

Students enquiring about work experience should send a cover letter and CV to HR@cancervic.org.au
