Biomedical research

A cancer research scientistBiomedical research is mainly scientific laboratory work conducted in universities, hospitals and medical research institutes.

We support over 90 biomedical researchers with grants, fellowships and scholarships. Our Research Management Unit coordinates the funding selection processes with independent advice from our Medical and Scientific Committee, Director and Executive Committee, ensuring the best projects are funded.

We also support the Victorian Cancer Biobank and the Victorian Breast Cancer Research Consortium.

A national Research Highlights Report is available from Cancer Council Australia, focusing on some of the hundreds of projects funded each year and introducing the people behind them.
